Eligibility and Application Process

Eligibility
Seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen from any Cornell University college, department, or program may apply. Applicants must
  • Have an interest in urban social-justice issues
  • Have a strong academic record and history of community engagement
  • Be enrolled at Cornell during the full academic year (applicants may not participate in a study-abroad program)
  • Be prepared to

  1. Be available to serve as mentor from August 2009 to May 2010
  2. Enroll in CRP 3301, Urban Mentorship Initiative, in fall 2009 and spring 2010
  3. Attend a two-day field trip to New York City in September 2009
  4. Participate in a three-day host trip in February 2010
  5. Participate in mentor-mentee UA program in May 2010

Application Process
ALL of the following documents must be received by the Cornell Urban Scholars Program office (108 West Sibley Hall) by April 29, 2009:

September 2009 Weekend trip to UE School, Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn
December 2009 Weekend trip to Cornell
February 2010 Weekend trip to Cornell
