Itopia Cornell Blog
Itopia Cornell is a series of blogs of the Architecture Theory course taught at Cornell in Rome by Gabriele Mastrigli. Open to all students in the course, the blog is the ideal instrument for use in a course of experimental theory, like Itopia, dedicated to the happenings/trends of Italian contemporary architecture and constructed upon diverse overlapping experiences and contributions including: explorations of Rome's significant places of modern and contemporary architecture (on-site), visits to architectural studios (at work) and lecturers on various related disciplines (in context). Focusing on the public dimension of Italian architecture, this course becomes an actual public space through this blog: a place where students engage in ongoing investigations through materials and final reflections charting explorations of contemporary Italy.
Cornell in Rome Student Blog
In the Fall of 2008 Tim Liddell let us follow him down the windy and exciting road that was his semester in Rome: from making pizza with roommates and discovering Pompei, to herding cats. Tim is a fourth year architecture student at Cornell and hopes to graduate in the Spring of 2010. Before beginning the Cornell in Rome program, Tim spent the summer on an archaeological dig in Tuscany, where he acquired a deep appreciation for olive oil and red wine.
