AAP On-Campus Recruiting & Materials Drops

We are eager to do all we can to help you recruit AAP students through an on-campus visit or a materials drop. We ask students to maintain the highest standards of professional conduct. We also expect employers to adhere to Cornell and NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) policies for employers, as follows:

Students access recruiting opportunities through the Students section of this website. We include a link to your organization's website and details of the recruiting event. We also encourage students to review any printed matter you send to our office.

On-Campus Recruiting
Recruiting on campus allows you to make a brief presentation to students about your organization and to interview them for fulltime jobs and summer internships or other short-term positions.

  • Presentations are optional and are generally scheduled for late afternoon, with interviews the following day. Where possible, we arrange two or three presentations back-to-back.

  • Interviews may be by preselection of candidates, by open sign-up, or by a combination of preselected and open sign-up candidates.

Preselecting candidates to interview requires lead time. Three to four weeks in advance of your visit to campus, we collect and forward to you the relevant materials of interested students—as you wish, resumes or resumes and short portfolios/work samples. No later than one full week before your arrival, you return to us the list of students you would like to interview during your visit. We contact the students to sign up for interview slots. If you preselect interviewees, we encourage you to reserve a few interview spaces for open sign-up.

You may interview entirely by open sign-up.  Open sign-up can occur prior to your arrival, at your presentation, or both.

Materials Drops
If visiting campus is not convenient, a materials drop offers an effective alternative. We collect and ship to you the materials of interested candidates, you then follow up with them directly. You may specify the materials you would like to receive: resumes, work samples/short portfolios, cover letters.

Alumni Career Forums
Art: Cancelled
Planning: Friday, 13 February 2009
Architecture: Saturday, 28 March 2009

With alumni presentations, panel discussions and one-to-one conversations, forums are educational events that allow students to benefit first-hand from alumni career advice and experience.

Forums also include recruiting, ranging from conducting pre-arranged first or second interviews to collecting student materials for later review. Employer presentations, however, are not possible.

Students from Related Disciplines
Whether you would like to recruit on campus or through a materials drop, we can also connect you with other Cornell colleges to coordinate recruiting of interior design, facilities management, landscape architecture, and engineering students.

Please phone or e-mail us to discuss an AAP on-campus recruiting visit or a materials drop.
