From 2002 to 2004 his work was included in the extensively traveled Walk Ways, an Independent Curator International exhibition that surveyed walking as a medium and process in art over the past quarter century. Ross was awarded studio residencies from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (New York, NY), PS1 Contemporary Art Center/MOMA (LIC, NY) and ARCUS Project (Moriya City, Ibaraki, Japan), among others.
He was awarded fellowships from the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Socrates Sculpture Park and the Asian Cultural Council. From 2004 to 2005 Ross was the guest professor of visual arts in the Department of Musical Creativity and the Environment at Tokyo National University of Fine Art and Music (Tokyo, Japan). Recent teaching appointments include Rhode Island School of Design, Sculpture Department and Cornell University, College of Architecture, Art, and Planning – Department of Art.
