Tremayne (Trey) Waller, associate director of advising and diversity at AAP, is the recipient of the 2009 Brenda H. Loyd Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Virginia Educational Research Association (VERA). The award, which honors an outstanding dissertation in the field of educational measurement, will be presented to Waller on September 18 in Charlottesville, Virginia.


Waller will give a presentation at the awards ceremony on the results of the dissertation, “A Mixed Method Approach for Assessing the Adjustments of Incoming First-year Engineering Students in a Summer Bridge Program” (2009). He will discuss his methods to investigate the various adjustment issues of participants versus non-participants in a summer bridge program for engineering students at a predominantly white institution, in the mid-southeastern region of the United States.
