AAP's historic preservation planning program inaugurates a new initiative this summer, with Preservation:Sustainability, a set of four one-day classes for design professionals and students to be held June 2–5 at the AAP NYC Center and other sites around the city.
This effort is cosponsored by a number of environmental, preservation, and community organizations, in recognition of its significance and pioneering nature. Seventeen nationally recognized architects, planners, scientists, and community leaders are lecturing during the courses, which cover the major elements of sustainable design from the perspective of the conservation of cultural and natural resources. The classes focus on green building, preservation and social equity, and economics and the environment. AIA continuing education units are available.
