Student Profile

B.S. Urban and Regional Studies 2007

Like many students at Cornell in the Urban and Regional Studies major, when I first began looking at colleges and programs I thought I had too many interests to be reconciled. I was never able to choose among architecture, politics, world cultures, history, sociology, English, etc.

I love the URS program because it has allowed me to fuse apparently disjointed themes into a clear career path. That path has been shaped in part by the professors who have always been able to make me think about and view the world from different vantage points. They also have an amazing knack for exposing prejudices you never knew you had.

My world view has changed so much at Cornell, not only because of the fascinating classes and professors, but because of the time I have spent abroad with the Rome program, inspiring speakers I have heard both on campus and on various field trips, activities and internships in which I have participated, and the people I have met. I have found so many intelligent and engaging people within the Cornell community; still, many of my closest friends are URS majors. They constantly push me to do my best, encourage me to take advantage of all the opportunities at Cornell, and offer me their knowledge, experience, and assistance.
