Student Profile

This project was created for an introductory GIS course. I chose to focus on mass transit and demography in Atlanta, my hometown.

In order to make policy recommendations to developers, planners and policymakers in the Atlanta region, I analyzed MARTA rail stations where potential TODs may be constructed dependent upon a variety of independent factors, including demographics, land use, and tax assessment data. I created a variety of maps depicting the various MARTA rail stations and the parcels available for TOD while including tables describing demography and land use data.

"Jess brings laser-beam focus, a commitment to a better world and unsurpassed effort to everything she does. She is the kind of student who makes CRP the terrific place it is."

Jessica Daniels

M.R.P. Regional Planning 2007

First-year MRP student Jess Daniels is a driven and talented person who, like most CRP students, has a strong commitment to making the world a better place. A native of sprawling Atlanta, she received an undergraduate degree in Montana, worked for a couple of years, and then came to Cornell.

In her first year here she’s made a huge contribution to the department as an officer of the Organization of Cornell Planners (OCP). Jess also staffed the weekly planning speaker series and wrote articles for the CRP Newsletter. In the summer of 2006, she was back in Atlanta as an intern with the Livable Communities Coalition. She’ll finish her Cornell experience in Rome in spring 2007, learning more about planning in an international context. Jess brings laser-beam focus, a commitment to a better world and unsurpassed effort to everything she does. She is the kind of student who makes CRP the terrific place it is.
