B.S Urban and Regional Studies 2011
One of my proudest moments at Cornell was working with the Hamlet of Varna on maintaining its public bus service. Varna is a small community on the eastern edge of the Cornell campus that is isolated from the rest of Ithaca and Tompkins County. The residents are mostly elderly and low-income families who cannot afford private transportation and are dependent on public transportation. Through my class on Geographical Informational Systems (GIS) I researched and mapped Varna’s population and demographics, and worked with the community to show the local transit system, TCAT, that continued service was vital to the community and neighboring areas.
