Thu-Huong Nguyen

B.S. Urban and Regional Studies 2011

Thu-Huong Nguyen is a member of Asian Pacific Americans for Action (APAA). APAA is a student club that has been at the forefront of activism and advocacy at Cornell. Thu joined APAA as a freshman in the midst of a decade-long campaign to obtain more administrative leadership for the Asian American community, especially around social and mental support. That following summer she interned at her hometown chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League researching the history of the Asian American movement, and interviewing student activists, professors, and community leaders throughout the US. With the assistance of a multiracial coalition at Cornell and Thu’s research, the APAA achieved its goal of hiring a new assistant dean dedicated to the needs of Asian and Asian American students as well as a new student center. Thu is currently a senior and president of APAA.
