The following awards were presented during the City and Regional Planning awards reception on May 22:

 

Kermit C. Parsons and Janice I. Parsons Scholarship: Promising work in areas of historic preservation, physical planning, urban design, transportation, planning history, garden/green cities, campus planning, and real estate development.

Department of City and Regional Planning Graduate Community Service Award: Socially conscious and active students who, through exemplary community service within and outside of the university, significantly contributed to the department.

Robert P. Liversidge III Memorial Book Award: Graduating Master of Regional Planning student with environmental interests who exemplifies qualities such as gentleness, whimsy, love of people, and ideas; is articulate and a good writer.

• Anisa Diane Mendizabal (M.R.P. ’09)

 

Upstate N.Y. Chapter of American Planning Association Student Projects Award: Student or a group of students in a recognized planning curriculum for an outstanding paper or class project, demonstrating innovation, transferability, quality, comprehensiveness, and potential for implementation.

Urban and Regional Studies Community Service Award: Up to five awards based on community service activity.

Portman Graduate Student Award: Student work focused on the physical aspect of planning.

• Bryan McCracken (M.A. HPP ‘10)

 

The 2009 Cornell University Department of City and Regional Planning presented the following awards during the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning commencement ceremonies on May 24:

 

Michael Rapuano Memorial Award: Graduating student with a degree in architecture, landscape architecture, painting, sculpture, or planning who has performed work in any of these fields that is judged to be the most outstanding as characterized by distinction in design.

• Agnes M. Ladjevardi (U.R.S. ’09)

 

Thomas W. Mackesey Prize: Master's candidate for the degree in city and regional planning who has demonstrated unusual competence in academic work or who, by qualities of personality or leadership, has significantly contributed to the intellectual advancement of fellow students.

• Joseph Anthony Rukus (M.R.P. ’09)

 

American Institute of Certified Planners Outstanding Student Award: Outstanding attainment in the study of planning by a student who is being graduated from an accredited or recognized program.

• Julia Mae Dailey (M.R.P. ’09)

 

John W. Reps Award: Candidate for the degree of Master of Arts in Historic Preservation who has demonstrated superior academic excellence.

• Katelin Elizabeth Olson (M.A. HPP ’09)  

 

Urban and Regional Studies Academic Achievement Award: Individuals who have achieved the highest academic average after seven semesters at Cornell.

• Efrem Zane Bycer (U.R.S.’09)

 

Peter B. Andrews Memorial Theses Prize: Best thesis prepared for the degree of Master of Regional Planning.
