City Visionaries is open to rising high school juniors and seniors who are passionate about pursuing higher education and careers related to the built environment and the design of cities.

Eligibility

Admission requires applicants to have an overall GPA of 3.3 or above.

Application Information

Applications can be submitted through the AAP summer program portal. Submission requirements include: a short essay (no more than 500 words), an unofficial transcript, and one letter of recommendation from an academic mentor or teacher.

The application fee is $45 (non-refundable). If you are unable to pay the application fee and would like to request a waiver, please contact Sydney Boyd (sydneyboyd@cornell.edu).

    Tuition includes course instruction, transportation costs related to curricular site visits, and daily lunch.

    The early application deadline is February 27; the regular application deadline is April 17. Early admission applicants will receive notification of admissions decisions by early April. Regular applicants will be notified by May. City Visionaries maintains a waitlist and students will be notified according to availability until July 6, the program's start date.

    Application fees are non-refundable. If a student is accepted and attends the program, the application fee will be applied to their tuition payment.

  • When is full tuition due?

    We ask that accepted students make a 50% down payment of $6,500 to secure their place in the program; full tuition is due by June 1, 2026.

    If paid in full before June 1, tuition is 75% refundable before June 12, and 50% refundable before July 10, 2026.

    Cornell AAP is committed to Ezra Cornell's vision for "an institution where any person can find instruction in any study," and a limited number of scholarships are available to select high-achieving and high-potential students who attest to financial need in their application.

  • Can a student attend for part of the program?

    City Visionaries is a rigorous academic commitment, and daily attendance for the entirety of the program is a requirement for successful completion.

  • Will students receive a Cornell University transcript upon completion?

    City Visionaries is a non-credit-bearing program, meaning that students will not receive official grades or a Cornell University transcript. Students who complete the program in good standing will receive an official AAP Certificate of Completion.

  • Does AAP provide housing support if a student does not live locally?

    City Visionaries accepts students from all over the world; however, because the program is non-residential, we are unable to provide students with housing support. Any student who relocates to the NYC area for the duration of the program is required to have a parent or guardian stay with them.
